Acne is a chronic inflammatory disease of the  glands which is usually associated with excessive sebum secretion, affecting areas which are rich in sebaceous glands, disease affects almost all male and females during puberty. 

It is not caused by bacterial infection although bacteria play an important role in the development of acne or pimples. Face, neck, back, chest and shoulders are the most common areas affected by acne.

There are various causes of acne. Basic cause of acne includes increased secretion of sebum or increased activity of sebaceous gland and blockage of hair follicles or pilosebaceous ducts.

     • Hormonal disturbances after using           hormonal contraceptive pills.

Symptoms of Acne

Acne is a skin condition that affects the hair       follicles and oil glands. Its symptoms vary from mild to severe. Common symptoms include:

1. Pimples (Papules)

Small red bumps on the skin

Often painful or tender

2. Whiteheads

Small bumps with a white or skin-colored top

Form when pores get clogged with oil and dead skin

3. Blackheads

Tiny black or dark-colored spots

Appear when clogged pores open and the oil turns dark

4. Pustules

Pimples filled with yellow or white pus

Red base with a soft center

5. Nodules

Hard, painful lumps deep under the skin

Large and long-lasting

6. Cystic Acne

Big, painful, pus-filled lumps

Can cause scarring if not treated

7. Excess Oil (Oily Skin)

Skin becomes shiny and greasy

Mostly on the forehead, nose, and chin (T-zone)

8. Skin Redness
